How to merge PDFs

Why merging in the browser matters
Most free PDF tools upload your document to a server, process it there and delete it “within an hour”. For a holiday photo that is fine. For a signed contract, a payslip, a medical letter or an invoice with bank details, it means handing a copy to a company you know nothing about.
This tool never sends the file anywhere. The merge happens in your browser with a JavaScript PDF library, which is why it also works with no internet connection once the page has loaded.
What is preserved
Pages, text, images, vector graphics and page sizes are copied as they are. Different page formats in one file are fine: an A4 letter followed by an A3 drawing stays that way.
Form fields, digital signatures and encryption are not carried over. A digitally signed PDF loses its signature when merged, which is true for every merge tool: the signature covers the original document, not the new one.
Questions
Is there a file size limit?
Only your device's memory. There is no server, so there is no upload limit or queue. Very large scans of several hundred megabytes may be slow on an older phone.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser. You can check with your browser's network tab: no request leaves the page.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Only if they are not actually encrypted. A PDF with an owner password can usually still be read; one with a user password cannot be opened without the password.
Does it keep the quality?
Yes. Pages are copied, not re-rendered, so there is no loss of quality and no re-compression.
